The first reason is that spring is the season when all plants start to sprout. I was born and raised in Hokkaido, where we have a long and dark winter. All plants and animals enjoy the start of spring and it tells me the value of life. That is the first reason I like spring. The second reason I like spring is that it is the beginning of the new school year. I feel I am a little older and wiser to start a new year at school and new textbooks and notebooks give me a sense of pride and joy of being a student. For us, high school students, it means we make decisions about our future and we take responsibility for the results. It is difficult since we are still financially dependent on our parents, but I think it is important that we start thinking of ourselves as independent individuals. [59 words]

◆解説◆ 　難しい設問ですが、どのように書けば模範解答になるだろうと考えるのではなく、素朴でもよいので自分で考える習慣をつけたいものです。50語以上60語以内というのは細かい指示ですが、普段から決まった時間内で決まった語数で作文する練習をすると効果的です。 ◆Key words & Phrases◆ 　independent （自立した、独立した） 　　→ be independent from, be dependent on などの表現でおぼえておきましょう。independence（名） 　responsibility （責任） 　　→ independence といっしょに覚えておくと使いやすい語です。
